Obituary for Col. Ronald G. Brocavich, USAF, Ret.
Col. Ronald G. Brocavich, USAF Ret., 76, of York Springs, PA died Saturday morning, January 6, 2018 at the Gettysburg Center.
Born November 17, 1941 in Taylor, PA he was the son of the late Ralph and Cecilia (Layman) Brocavich and brother of late Ralph Brocavich Jr. He was the husband of Luisa (Di Francescantonio) Brocavich of York Springs to whom he was married to for 30 years.
In his early years, Ronald was a passionate football player. He was the captain and quarterback of his high school football team and later earned a full athletic scholarship to attend University of Iowa. After two years, Ronald transferred to Colorado State University where he would continue to play football. While at Colorado State, Ronald joined ROTC where he became enthralled by the US Air Force.
Col. Brocavich was a career United States Air Force Veteran serving his country from 1966-1991 earning numerous decorations including the National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star. He served several tours abroad including two in Italy where he met his wife, Luisa. After retiring from the Air Force, he began teaching mathematics at Trenton Central High School, where he worked for 15 years. Col. Brocavich was an art enthusiast, food-lover, and avid gardener. You could always find him outside pruning bushes, mowing the grass, and planting flowers.
In addition to his wife, Ronald is survived by his two children, Ronald John Brocavich Jr., of Arlington, VA, and Nina Ann Brocavich, of Rabun Gap, GA. Other surviving relatives include Ronald's aunt Gertrude (Layman) Srebro of Moosic, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the services Saturday morning at the funeral home. Burial will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA (Arlington request anyone who would like to attend to arrive by 12:15 in order to organize prior to graveside which will be held promptly at 1:00).
