Obituary for Doris H. Sanders
Doris H. Sanders, 82 of Gettysburg, PA died Monday, February 13, 2017 at her home after a long illness.
Born June 15, 1934 in Mt. Joy Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul Ross & Mary Elizabeth (Ketterman) Hann. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Eugene F. “Peep” Sanders.
Doris was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. She worked for the former Gettysburg National Bank which was acquired by PNC Bank for many years until her retirement. Doris enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family. She was voted as the first Adams County’s Fireman’s Queen in 1950.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons; Michael E. Sanders of Baltimore, MD and Ronald W. Sanders and wife Laura of Hampstead, MD, and three grandchildren; Sarah, Matthew and Daniel Sanders.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with the Rev. Andrew Geib, officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA l7325.
