Obituary for Joseph H. Thatcher, Jr.
Joseph H. Thatcher, Jr., 66, of Fairfield, PA died Saturday morning, February 18, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 29, 1950 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Elizabeth A. (Randolph) Thatcher, Sr. He was the husband of Christine C. (Wilkins) Thatcher, of Fairfield to whom he was married to for 20 years.
Joe was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for 23 years as a branch manager at Dunbar Armored in Frederick, MD.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his four daughters, Debra Marick and her husband Tony, of Mt. Airy, MD, Brittany Holtz and her husband Eric, of Fairfield, PA, Danielle Bartell, of Fairfield, PA, Ashley Bartell, of Fairfield, PA, and 10 grandchildren, Mikey, Aden, Addison, Christian, Adeline, Joshua, Colin, Baylyn, BreElla, and Tanner. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph “Joey” Herbert Thatcher, III.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Christopher Frye officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of the service. Full military honors, presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans, will follow the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Gettysburg Montessori Charter School PTO, 888 Coleman Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325 or to www.SpecialOlympics.org (Carroll County, MD)
