Obituary for Joseph M. Miller
Joseph M. Miller, 69, of Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at his home.
Born June 17, 1947 in Gettysburg, PA he was the son of the late Francis and Rosalie (Martin) Miller of Littlestown, PA. He was the husband of Cecelia (Shriner) Miller of Gettysburg to whom he was married to for 46 years.
Mr. Miller was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War earning the Bronze Star. He worked for 35 years at Inland Container as a foreman, as well as many other positions. After leaving Inland Container he worked for a time with his brother, Francis, strip mining and then later for his sons at Brothers Interior Trim. He was a member of the Biglerville American Legion and loved hunting, and anything outdoors. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and a great handyman.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his three children, Bryan Miller, Justin Miller and his wife Jen, Nicole Herr and her husband Nathan, all of Gettysburg, daughter-in-law Jody Miller and her fiancé Nate Hawbaker, of Biglerville, seven grandchildren, Kyla Miller, Courtney Miller, Ariya Miller, Hailey Stone, Tyler Miller, Addyson Herr, Brody Herr, and 10 siblings, Margie Keiser and her husband David, Francis Miller and his wife Ruby, Bob Miller, Tom Miller and his wife Florence, Fred Miller and his wife Shirley, Mary Kuhn and her husband Richard, Wayne Miller and his wife Sherri, George Miller and his wife Rose, Steve Miller, and Denny Miller. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Miller who died August 3, 2002, Corey Miller who died August 26, 2006 and his brother Mark Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:30 PM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 22 West High St., Gettysburg, PA with Fr. Daniel Mitzel Celebrant. Burial with full military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in the St. Francis Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM, Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
