Obituary for Julia Dale Mallette
Julia Dale Mallette, age 78 of Gettysburg, entered into God’s Eternal peace on Saturday, September 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 45 West High Street, Gettysburg. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 am at the church. Interment will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
Julia was born on March 16, 1939 in Natural Bridge Station, Virginia. One of four daughters of the late Jessie Lloyd and Martha Virginia Austin. Julia was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, William D. Mallette who died on August 3, 2017. She is survived by 3 children. Daughter, Susan and husband Mike Sharrah of Orrtanna, son, Jon and wife Sandy Mallette of Hanover, and daughter, Lisa and husband Billie Eyler of Gettysburg. Julia has 7 grandchildren, Zachary and wife Kyla Sharrah of St. Augustine, Florida, Nathan Sharrah of Orrtanna, Josh Eyler and Sarah Easley of Arendtsville, Cassie and husband Bradley Fockler of Orrtanna, and Aly, Hailey and Jessie Mallette of Hanover. Julia has three surviving sisters, Bettie Jean and husband Freddie Gilliam of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, Helen “Nooksie” and Robert Williams of Hopewell, Virginia, and Sharon and Edward Faulkner of Elon, North Carolina.
Julia was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She adored and loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking and she loved sharing her treats with others just to see them smile. Julia and Bill provided on-going contributions for the children of St. Jude’s. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Julia’s name. The Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
