Obituary for Marion J. McDaniel
Mr. Marion J. McDaniel, 86 of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Gettysburg Center.
Born in Johnsville, Frederick County, Maryland on May 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Hubert T. & Mary Elizabeth (Rose) McDaniel.
Marion was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg. Marion had worked for the Black and Decker Corp. and later the R.H. Sheppard Co. for many years. He enjoyed camping with his family, woodworking, fishing and working on puzzles.
Marion is survived by his wife, Annabelle (Moritz) McDaniel, five children; Kathy Cathey of Landisville, PA, Karen McDaniel, Theodore McDaniel and Gregory McDaniel all of Hanover, PA and George McDaniel of York, PA, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and five step-children; Laurie Braun of Mechanicsburg, PA, Lisa Cline of Kannapolis, NC, Troy Shealer and John Shealer both of York Springs, PA and Jennifer Zimmerman of Middletown, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with the Rev. Steve Baker, officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m.
