Obituary for Mary Amelia Whittinghill Williams
Mary Amelia Whittinghill Williams, 93, Gettysburg, PA died Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA.
She was born October 27, 1923 in Gettysburg, PA the daughter of the late Francis and Nancy McGlaughlin Hemler. Her first husband, E. Thomas Whittinghill died in 1951 and her second husband Elmon Williams died in 2002.
Amelia was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and attended St. Francis Xavier grade school. She graduated from Gettysburg High School. For many years she was secretary for the Gettysburg Hotel on Lincoln Square and later was the bookkeeper for the Adams County Superintendent of School.
Amelia is survived by two sons; E. Thomas Whittinghill, Jr., Timothy Whittinghill, a step-son, Stephen Williams and his wife Deana of Gettysburg, PA, a step-daughter, Karen Thomas and her husband Gary of Bendersville, PA. grandchildren; Chris Whittinghill, Tommy Whittinghill, Brock Williams, Brandon Williams, Wesley Thomas, Andrew Thomas, a sister, Lorraine Sharrah of Biglerville, PA and a number of great grandchildren. She was predeceased by an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Gettysburg National Military Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 455 Table Rock Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325. Online
