Angelo J. Agosta Sr., 94 of Fairfield, PA died Wednesday morning, November 20, 2024 at the Gettysburg Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born October 30, 1930 in Peekskill, NY he was the son of the late Natale and Margherita Angelina (Sciveletto) Agosta. He was the husband of Lorraine A. (Gardner) Agosta, of Fairfield to whom he was married to for 72 years.
Angelo was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a civilian working for the Army National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 202 and the Fairfield AMVETS Post 172.
Angelo and his family moved from Montrose, NY to Gettysburg in 1990 to purchase and operate the Gettysburg Campground which they ran until 2005. He was remembered being seen riding around the Campground on a golf cart with a stogie hanging out of his mouth. One of his favorite past times was playing cards with family & friends to whom he use to boast about writing The Book “How to Play Cards”. He also enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife, Lorraine, Angelo is survived by his six children, Lori Agosta Jackson and her husband Joe Jackson, Lou Ann Agosta, Michael Agosta, Anthony Agosta/Mary Ellen Tuite, Tom Agosta/Cindy Weikert, Angelo Agosta and his wife Lisa, along with three grandchildren, Kenny Agosta/Kelsey Pledger, Andrew Agosta/Moriah Tyler, and Melissa & Jason Fazzino, two great grandchildren; Dominic Fazzino, Vincent Fazzino and two brothers and their spouses, Samuel & Joan Agosta and George & Mary Agosta. He was preceded in death by two brothers and their spouses, Joseph & Nancy Agosta and John & Gloria Agosta, and his sister, Josephine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd., Fairfield, PA. Burial with full military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass Saturday morning at the church.
