Obituary for Anne C. Maturi
Anne C. Maturi, 63, 13 Kestrel Drive, Gettysburg, PA formerly of Oakland, NJ died Monday, May 14, 2018 at the York Hospital.
She was born in Rochester, NY the daughter of the late, Ralph and Dorothy Stein Sackett. Anne is survived by her husband George Maturi, a son, Nicholas Maturi and his wife Gina of Elmwood Park, NJ, a daughter, Brenda Smith and her husband, Matthew of Randolph, NJ, three grandchildren; Frankie Maturi, Amelia Maturi and Luca Maturi. She was predeceased by a sister, Beth Edersheim, and a brother, Michael Sackett.
Anne was a graduate of the University of Buffalo with a degree in Social Work. She then was employed for Genesee County, NY as a social worker, later she worked for five years for Lebhar-Friedman Publishing Co before taking time to raise her family. After her children were off to college she took a position at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Oakland, NJ as a preschool teacher’s aide. Anne was a member and officer of the Oakland, NJ Newcomers Club, a member of the Oakland Mother’s Club and member of the Oakland Public School’s PTA. She was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and a CCD Teacher. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, followed by a Christian Wake Service. Interment will be private and held at a later date in New York. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 2405 Park Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
