Obituary for Anne Prescott Buell
Anne Prescott Buell, age 80, of Gettysburg, died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Cross Keys Village - Brethren Home Community in New Oxford. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jerry Buell.
Anne was born on July 27, 1936 in Grafton, MA, daughter of the late John and Lenis Sill Prescott.
She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO and worked for American Airlines in New York City before her marriage. Throughout her life, she was an active member of local Episcopal churches, serving on Altar Guilds and Vestries. She also served on several PTA boards at her children’s schools. In 1985, she and her husband settled in Gettysburg.
Anne was a member of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, serving on the Altar Guild and as both Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer for several years. She worked at H&R Block and then as a teller at Gettysburg National Bank/PNC Bank until her retirement in 1999. Anne also volunteered at Gettysburg Hospital.
During their retirement, Anne and Jerry enjoyed traveling and did so extensively, traveling to India, China, Australia, New Zealand, as well as many countries in Europe.
In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by a son, Tom Buell of Annandale, NJ; two daughters, Tracy Buell of New York, NY, and Betsy Dahm and her husband, Paul Dahm of Washington, DC; three grandchildren, Naomi Sudo, Keith Sudo and Jonathan Sudo; and a brother, Tom Prescott of, Camden, ME. She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Prescott Schaub and her son-in-law, Philip Sudo.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Noon, at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church with Rev. Dr. Herbert Sprouse officiating.
