Obituary for Barbara A. Redding
Barbara A. Redding, 80, 1270 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg, PA died Friday, April 15, 2016 at SpiriTrust in Gettysburg, PA.
She was born February 29, 1936 in New Oxford, PA the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Gladys Robinson, Sr. Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Herman J. Redding, Sr.
Mrs. Redding was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Delone High School, then earning a RN Degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster, PA and later a BS Degree from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA and her Master’s Degree from Shippensburg University. For many years she worked at the former Annie M. Warner Hospital, now known as the Gettysburg Hospital. She was also a school nurse for the Chambersburg Area School District. Barbara was a volunteer at St. Francis Church for several years.
In addition to her husband Barbara is survived by five children; Jane M. Redding of Thurmont, MD, Herman J. Redding, Jr. and his wife Beth of Downingtown, PA, Anthony D. Redding and his wife Barb of Cashtown, PA, William J. Redding of Hanover, PA, Melissa H. Redding and her fiancé Donald G. Hubbard, Jr. of Gettysburg, PA, three grandchildren; Alison, Nathan, Matthew, two step-grandchildren; Mariah, Marlie, 6 step-great grandchildren, five brothers and sisters; Jane Karason of Middletown, PA, Sandra Rodrigo of Hanover, PA, James R. Robinson of New Oxford, PA, Joseph A. Robinson of Harrisburg, PA, Caroline C. Hoffman of Middletown, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, High Street, Gettysburg. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Tuesday evening, April 19th at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 455 Table Rock Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or St. Jude’s, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
