Obituary for Barbara A. Snyder
Barbara A. Snyder, 86, formerly of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday afternoon June 25, 2017 at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA.
Born November 28, 1930 in Gettysburg she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bertha (Sanders) Small. She was the wife of the late John E. Snyder who died September 3, 1992.
Mrs. Snyder grew up in the Gettysburg area, attending grade school at St. Francis Xavier School. She worked for a time at the local sewing factory and supported her husband in many business endeavors (developer Twin Oaks, Snyder’s Body Shop & Chrysler Dealership, People’s Drug Store, Wolfe’s Pub, Lamp Post Restaurant) . Barbara was an active member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church where she was involved in several mission activities: sewing Burden Bears, knitting hats, and helping in the making of the lap quilts. Most of all though she loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Laura S. Pennings and her husband Francis, of New Oxford, PA, Lisa A. Snyder, of Gettysburg, PA, Lois A. Kime and her husband James, of Gettysburg, PA, John M. Snyder and Tina Santos, of Gettysburg, PA, nine grandchildren, Kirsten Riddle and her husband John, Drew Snyder, Bradley Kime, Ryan Kime, Kendra Showers and her husband Justin, Carson Pennings, Chloe Pennings, Cassandra Pennings, Cameron Pennings, her brother, Richard Small and his wife Evelyn, of Gettysburg, PA, Janet Maring, of Gettysburg, PA, and her sisters-in-law, Betty Neely and her husband Don and Carolyn Small. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Small.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, 208 Baltimore St., Gettysburg, PA with the Rev. Dr. David Wright and Rev. Dr. Harry Winsheimer officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Wednesday afternoon at the church.
