Obituary for Barbara Ann Wolff Campanaro Schadel
Barbara Ann Wolff Campanaro Schadel passed away quietly on Thursday, July 28, 2016. She was born in Gettysburg on December 13, 1927, the daughter of Charles Richard Wolff and Anna Mary Oyler Wolff. Barbara was a devoted mother and life-long educator. She will be remembered as a true friend and for her kindness to people and animals alike.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Louis Anthony Campanaro, with whom she had her first daughter. Lou died in 1949. Later she married Calvin B. Schadel and had three daughters. She was a 1945 graduate of Gettysburg High School where she was elected to the National Honor Society, The Mask and Wig, and was co-editor of the yearbook. Barbara graduated from Gettysburg College in 1951 and earned her Master’s Degree from Penn State University. She taught in public school for over 30 years, teaching locally at Lincoln, Meade, Keefauver, and Franklin Township Schools as well as in New York, California, and Munich, Germany.

Barbara was a lifelong member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, Phi Mu Sorority, Daughters of the American Colonists, Audubon Society, Gettysburg Professional Women’s Club, and member and Past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her interests included reading, playing bridge, watching movies, and attending concerts and live theatre.

Barbara is survived by her four daughters; Lou Ann Campanaro Miller, Carol Lynn Schadel Kessel, Erika Ann Schadel Heaney, and Rebecca Ilene Schadel Colgan, and her four son-in-laws; Robin Miller, Russ Kessel, Ken Heaney, and John Colgan. She was also the proud grandmother of Brett Miller, Heather Miller Flood, Joshua Heaney, and Alivia Colgan as well as great-grandmother of Irving and Florence Flood and Clyde Miller.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York Street, Gettysburg with Rev. Michael Allwein, officiating. The family will receive friends in the church’s social room following the service. A private interment will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family suggests memorials be sent to St. James Lutheran Church, Adams County SPCA (11 Goldenville Rd. Gettysburg), or the Adams County Library System (140 Baltimore St., Gettysburg, PA).
