Obituary for Barbara Cowley Forrest
Barbara Ann Cowley Forrest, 81 of Chambersburg, PA died Monday, March 28, 2016 at the home of her daughter.
Born September 23, 1934 in Cleburne, Texas she was the daughter of the late John M. & Genevieve (Williams) Cowley. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, James Randall Forrest who died June 20, 2010.
She was a graduate of Cleburne High School and had a career as a project manager for the federal government working at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas and Fairchild Corp. in Hagerstown, MD for the U.S. Air Force and at Fort Richie, MD for the U. S. Army. Barbara was a member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, painting and crafts. She loved to travel and had visited all 50 states, climbing Diamond Head in Hawaii when she was 78 years young!
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Cristy Bates of Fairfield, PA and Kimberly Rickabaugh of Chambersburg, four grandchildren; Virginia Shields of Hanover, PA, Rachele Renfrew of Lancaster, SC, Jaimie Renfrew of Chambersburg, and Christian Renfrew of Chambersburg, 2 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Tanner, her brother, Ronald Cowley of Amarillo, TX and her cousin, Bill Staples of Houston, TX.
A Viewing for Barbara will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. A graveside funeral service and burial will take place on Saturday, April 2, at 11:00 AM in the Evergreen Cemetery, 799 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Louis Nyiri, officiating.
