Obituary for Barbara M. Eriksen
Barbara M. Eriksen, 82, of Gettysburg, PA went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, October 14, 2018.
Born March 9, 1936 in Harrisburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Marguerite (Gamber) Higgins. She was the wife of the late Ralph G. Eriksen who passed away August 20, 2015. Together, Barbara and Ralph, also known as “Grandmom and Gralphie,” grew a family based on love and togetherness. Their home, Valley View in Gettysburg, PA, was the home to numerous family fun parties, summer night cookouts, car club picnics and magical Christmas gatherings.
Mrs. Eriksen was a member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church and was a committed supporter of numerous charitable programs benefiting children and families in need. She was very involved with her family and always ready with a loving card or a thoughtful gesture for friends, family, and members of the surrounding community. She was a thoughtful generous, funny, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother, and friend.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Debi (& Chris) Boyd, of Littlestown, PA, Tammy Morelen (& Scott), of Yorktown, PA, four granddaughters, Aubry (& BJ) Mortimer, Jennifer (& Alden) Nelson, Diana (& Nathan) Morelen-Brand, Janelle (& Jason) Driver, six great grandchildren, and her sister, Jan (& Doug) Sherburne, of Fairfax, VA.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, 208 Baltimore St., Gettysburg with Rev. Dr. David Wright and Rev. Louis Nyiri officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA. The Monahan Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements and online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
