Betty Jane Smith, 93, of Gettysburg, PA died Tuesday morning, October 17, 2017 at the St. Catherine’s Nursing Home in Emmitsburg, MD.
Born September 28, 1924 in Gettysburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Murray and Maria (Little) Sadler.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg. She worked at Faber’s Restaurant in Gettysburg for many years, as well as Freeman Shoe Company in Emmitsburg, Keystone Cabinet Company, and her later years worked at the Brethren Home in New Oxford.
Betty is survived by her two children, David E. Smith and his wife Joan, of Emmitsburg, MD, Judy E. Manahan, of Emmitsburg, MD, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Harry Sadler, Glenn Sadler, William Sadler, Clarence Sadler, Roy Sadler, her sister, Mary Sadler, and her son-in-law, Robert Manahan.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Jon Greenstone officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
