Beverly E. Karsteter, 87, of Gettysburg, PA peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at SpiriTrust at Utz Terrance in Hanover, PA.
She was born August 12, 1937, in Fort Monroe, VA. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Col. Francis Borgia and Beverly Smith Kane, her brother, Col. Francis B. Kane, Jr. of Bethesda MD, and sister-in-law Linda June Schell of Denver CO. Beverly is survived by her husband, LTC Robert Burton Karsteter and brother-in-law, Wayne Schell of Denver, CO.
Beverly was a devoted Catholic, spiritual guide and active in prayer groups everywhere she lived across the world, most recently at St. Francis Xavier Parish. After graduating from Rosemont College in Philadelphia, with a BA in Mathematics, her most notable career accomplishment was working for NASA writing the computer programs for the astronauts orbiting earth during Project Mercury. She enjoyed travel, sharing pilgrimages, and beach adventures with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Karsteter is survived by seven children; Burton Karsteter (Connie), Linda Karsteter Stubbs (Robert Thayer), LTC Page Karsteter (Nichole Perata), Beverly Anne Karsteter (David Walowsky), Martha Perkins (Jess), Marty Qually (Elizabeth Meighan), Paul Karsteter (Theresa), grandchildren: Jason, Laura Anna, Emily, Kate, Helen, Scott, Gianna, Clara, Maggie, Kane, Aiden, Lucian, Tyler, Page, Ruthie, Nick, Kate, and Sam, several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren Blake and Brynn, several beloved extended family members and exchange students.
The family will accept guests for a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The viewing will include a praying of the rosary at 6:30 pm. Beverly prayed the rosary daily, a decade for each of her 7 children.
A viewing will also be on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. The Mass of Christian burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on High Street in Gettysburg, PA will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, followed by interment in the church cemetery with a reception at the Adams County Arts Council.
