Obituary for Champlain Smith Packard, III
Champlain Smith Packard, III, 75, Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, PA died suddenly Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
He was born March 30, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of the late Champlain S. and Marion Mdilrazey Packard, Jr. Mr. Packard’s wife, Virginia Grace Packard died in 1994.
Early in his career, Mr. Packard was employed as a salesman for Mobile Homes in the Maryland area. After moving to Gettysburg he was employed at Knouse Foods for several years. He then became the manager of the Rutter’s that was on York Street in Hanover, PA. Following that he was produce manager for Kennies Market and briefly at Weis Market. He was a dedicated Baltimore Orioles fan and Baltimore Ravens fan. His hobbies included collecting baseball cards and anything and everything to do with the Orioles and Ravens.
Mr. Packard is survived by a daughter, Janet Lynne Packard of Hanover, PA, a son, John C. Packard of Littlestown, PA, a step-daughter, Stephanie Wagaman of Orrtanna, PA, two step-sons; Daniel Wagaman of Dillsburg, PA, Stephen Wagaman and his wife Katie of Aspers, PA, and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Joanne Kalb.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Stephen Baker officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 PM until the time of the service. Online obituary and condolences available at monahanfuneralhome.com.
