Obituary for Charles Vest, Jr.
Charles Vest, Jr., 82, of Fairfield, PA died Sunday afternoon, October 28, 2018 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born August 5, 1936 in Naugatuck, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Charles and Ethel (Clark) Vest, Sr. He was the husband of 53 years to the late Mary “Dee” (Turner) Vest who died August 17, 2013.
Mr. Vest was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fairfield, PA. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. He worked for 33 years as a manager for the phone company in Washington, DC and after retirement worked for the Carroll Valley Golf Course for another 30 years. He was a devoted volunteer for Meals on Wheels and in his free time enjoyed golfing.
Charles is survived by his seven children, John Timothy Vest, Katherine Moore, Tracy Vest, Laura Lane, Jennifer Summerlin, Michael Vest, Christina Ford, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and his sister, Roberta Annesse. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Rd., Fairfield, PA. Burial with full military honors being presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass, Friday morning at the church.
