Obituary for Charles R. Kitzmiller
Charles R. Kitzmiller, age 86 of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home.
Born November 10, 1930 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Robert U. & Grace Elizabeth (Livelsberger) Kitzmiller.
Charles was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. He had been employed with the Adams Electric Cooperative for 32 years before his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, American Legion Post #15, life member of VFW Post #15, Fairfield AmVets, the former Gettysburg Elks Lodge #1045, Cashtown-McKnightstown Senior Citizens and was a life member serving 60 years with the Cashtown Fire Co. Charles was a former Teener League baseball coach for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis H. (Herring) Kitzmiller, a daughter, Cindy A. Ford and husband Tom of Gettysburg, two granddaughters; Kristi A. Cramer and husband Jack of Cashtown, PA and Tara M. Reed and husband Jim of Gettysburg, three great grandchildren; Jayden and Madison Cramer and Anna Grace Reed. Charles was predeceased by his brother, Robert E. Kitzmiller, who died in 2014.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St. Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Michael E. Allwein, officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans. The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 10-11 a.m. The family suggests memorials to SpiriTrust Lutheran Homecae and Hospice, 260 West High St. Gettysburg, PA 17325 or St. James Lutheran Church, 109 York St. Gettysburg, PA 17325.
