Obituary for Claire Larson
Claire Larson, 88, died December 13, 2016 at the Newton Wellesley Alzheimer Center, Wellesley MA. Born in Berlin NH, the daughter of Carl Elmer and Marie Devost Christiansen. After graduating from Boston University, Claire was employed by the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee in Washington DC. Subsequently, she was Special Assistant to U.S Senator Styles Bridges of New Hampshire when he was Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate.
Claire married John C. Larson of Gettysburg in 1951. Two children, Christina Larson Kelly of Winchester MA and Jacquelyn Claire Larson of Cary NC and two grandchildren, William V. Almand IV and Anne Claire Almand, survive them. John Larson pre-deceased his wife in 2000.
The Larson family moved to Loudoun County Virginia in 1962 where Claire was very active in many civic organizations. Following the footsteps of her mother who was a member of the New Hampshire State House of Representatives for 18 years, Claire was a Life Member of the Republican National Committee and very active in Republican politics. She was a real estate broker with Coldwell Banker for 28 years. During this time, she received many awards including the Ethics Award from the State of Virginia. She also served as President of the Dulles Association of Realtors and was the recipient of many awards from the association and its members.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg PA.
