Col. Charles W. Rogers, US Air Force RET, 93, Gettysburg, PA died Friday, October 20, 2017 at York Epic Hospital.

He was born May 14, 1924 in Arcade, NY the son of the late Rupert W. and Eleanor Eggert Rogers. Col Rogers wife, Georgette Hornick Rogers died in 2000.

Col. Rogers was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Gettysburg, PA. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving most of his time aboard Air Force One as chief navigator. He served two years of President Eisenhower’s term all of President Kennedy and President Johnson’s and two years of President Nixon’s term. He then became Deputy Commandant of Shaw Air Force Base outside Charleston, SC. Following his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife and helping in the garden. Charles was a member of the Gettysburg American Legion.

Col. Rogers is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Rogers of Funkstown, MD, two sisters; Kathryn Scripter of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara Klinck of Phoenix, AZ, two brothers; Dean Rogers and his wife Jane of Cheektowaga, NY, Paul Rogers and his wife Bonnie of Bliss, NY, two sister-in-law’s; Janice Groehler and her husband Doug, Shirley Scribner and her husband Cecil. He was predeceased by two sisters; Eleanor Schiener and Margaret Tanner, a sister-in-law, Joyce Hornick.

Funeral Services will be held, Friday, October 27, 2017 at Trinity United Church of Christ, Gettysburg, PA with Pastor George Heberling officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Gettysburg Fire Department, 35 North Stratton Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325 or The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
