Obituary for David M. Lutz
David Minter Lutz, 70 died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Gettysburg Center.
He was born July 9, 1947 in Warren, PA the son of the late William E. Lutz, Jr. and Patricia Minter Lutz Kranias. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Charles Kranias.
Dave was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. He was a 1965 graduate of Gettysburg High School, there he was a standout athlete on both track & field and football teams. Dave is a Viet Nam veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
He then moved to Harrisburg and earned a degree from Harrisburg Area Community College in Harrisburg in Mental Health Care. For the next ten years he worked at Harrisburg Hospital dealing with Mental Health clients. In 1982, Dave began a 27 year career at the Gettysburg National Military Park with the maintenance department until his retirement in 2009. He enjoyed music, playing his guitar, and supporting his favorite sports teams the Redskins and Orioles.
Dave is survived by a brother, William E. “Bill” Lutz III and his wife Linda of Knox, IN, a niece, Jennifer, her husband Brad and their daughter Kate of Hanna, IN. Also two half-brothers; Ernie Kranias of Gettysburg, PA, Rick Kranias, his wife Sue, their children Sophia and Niko of Kensington, MD.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening, February 13, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Michael Allwein officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until the time of the services Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
