Obituary for Delmar B. "Dellie" Richardson
Delmar B. “Dellie” Richardson, age 81, of Orrtanna, PA passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born April 23, 1936 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Leo & Eva Ginter.
Dellie was a 1954 graduate of Gettysburg High School where he was a standout left handed pitcher on the school’s baseball team. Before injuring his throwing arm, he was being scouted by the former Philadelphia A’s. Dellie was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army. He retired after 30 years from Master Brand Manufacturing in Littlestown, PA where he served as the plant manager. Dellie was a member of the Orrtanna United Methodist Church, where he served as Chairperson on the Administrative Board for many years. He was a member of the Fairfield School Board for 11 years, 5 years as President. Dellie was a true family man, enjoying coaching in the Fairfield Little League for 17 years while watching his four sons grow from boys to fine young men, which made him very proud. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Most of all he cherished the time spent supporting his children and grandchildren at their sporting events.
Dellie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Tynia Trembow Richardson, 3 sons: Edward Richardson and wife Karen of Waynesboro, PA, Chris Richardson and wife Laura of Waynesboro and Eric Richardson and wife Stacey of Orrtanna, PA, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Richardson, who died in 1994.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Orrtanna United Methodist Church, 1717 Carrolls Tract Road, Orrtanna, PA with the Rev. Kimberly Phillips, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
