Obituary for Donald I. Topper
Donald I. Topper, 76, Fairfield, PA died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
He was born January 6, 1942 in Fairfield, PA the son of the late Roger and Gertrude Wivell Topper. Donald’s wife Carol “Susie’ Andrews Topper died in 1991, and his cherished loving companion, Pat Rice died in 2016.
Mr. Topper was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. For many years he was employed at Schindler Elevator Company in Gettysburg until his retirement in 2002. Following his retirement he worked for Hickory Bridge Farm Restaurant in Fairfield. He was a member of the Fairfield Fire Company and the Fairfield Amvets.
Donald is survived by brothers and sisters; Leo Topper and his wife Anna Marie, Patricia Hewitt and her husband Melvin, Miriam Barefoot, Dolores Martin and her husband Wilbur, Paul Topper and his wife Carolyn, several nieces and nephews and the Pat Rice family. He was predeceased by brothers; Francis Topper, Joseph Topper and a sister, Regina Layman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Peter DiTomasso celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to; St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 256 Tract Road, Fairfield, PA 17320, Fairfield Fire Co., 108 Steelman Street, Fairfield, PA 17325, Fairfield Amvets, 3600 Fairfield Road, Fairfield, PA 17325.
