Obituary for Dorothy A. Heflin
Dorothy A. Heflin, 76, of Gettysburg, PA went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
She was born June 30, 1939 in Gettysburg, PA the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Mary E. (Anderson) Gilbert. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard E. Heflin, Sr.
Mrs. Heflin was an active member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, serving as a Deacon and leader of the prayer chain. For many years she was employed as a Bookkeeper at the law office of Wilcox, James & Cook, and currently as a tipstaff at the Adams County Courthouse. Dorothy loved her family even creating “Grandma Day” each week, entertaining her grandchildren. She enjoyed the beach, her flower garden, her pets and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Heflin is survived by five children; Richard E. Heflin, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Gettysburg, PA, Dr. Daniel W. Heflin and his wife Ann of Flower Mound, TX, Mary Weigle and her husband Ron, of Biglerville, Diane Weikert and her husband Chadd, Lisa Heflin and her companion Gerrid Doaks of Gettysburg, PA, 12 grandchildren; Cara, Angie, Jacob, Rebekah, Rachel, Benjamin, Melissa, Erin, Connor, David, Lexis, Caleb, 4 great grandchildren; Luke, Drew, Quyn, Zane, a twin brother, Donald Gilbert of Fairfield, PA and another brother, Calvin (Jim) Gilbert of Orrtanna, PA, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers; Richard and Robert Gilbert and sisters, Phyllis Kehr, Cindy Stouffer, and Janet Elliot.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. David Wright and Rev. Lou Nyriri officiating. Interment will be in Mummasburg Cemetery. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA on Monday, July 4th from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, as well as from 10:00 AM until the time of the services Tuesday at the church.
