Obituary for Dorothy A. Sanders
Dorothy A. Sanders, 89, 2476 Chambersburg Road, Biglerville, PA died Friday, June 16, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born November 21, 1927 in Westminster, MD the daughter of the late Lester and Pauline Newcomer Legore. Dorothy’s husband L. Blaine Sanders died in 1976.
Dorothy was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Buchanan Valley, PA. She and her husband owned and operated Sanders General Store in McKnightstown, PA from 1968 until its’ closing in 1980. Dorothy enjoyed her cats, embroidery, reading and the Baltimore Orioles but most of all she loved her family and raising her children.
Mrs. Sanders is survived by her children; Kathleen Bumbaugh and her husband Joseph of Felton, PA, John Sanders and his wife Cherlyn of Orrtanna, PA, L. Blaine Sanders, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Biglerville, PA, Mark Sanders and his wife Connie of Springfield, OH, Kevin Sanders and his wife Kathleen of Aspers, PA, Margaret Wasielczyk and her husband Michael of Hanover, PA, Cheryl Gochenauer of Biglerville, PA, Lisa Poole and her husband Michael of Gettysburg, PA, 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, two sisters; Alice Marshall of Florida, Betty Green of Westminster, MD and a brother, Gene Legore of Texas and her beloved feline companion, Indy. Dorothy was predeceased by a son-in-law, Rick Gochenauer, three sisters; Helen Black, Katherine Heltibridle, Gloria Noble and two brothers; Howard Legore and Donald Legore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM from St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church with Rev. Dominic M. DiBiccaro celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery immediately following the mass. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg from 6:00 Pm until 8:00 Pm with a Vigil for the deceased at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA 17353 or a favorite charity.
