Obituary for Edward P. Zimmer, Jr.
Edward P. Zimmer, Jr., 85, formerly of Gettysburg, PA died Tuesday morning, April 30, 2019 at Michaux Manor Living Center, Fayetteville, PA.
Born March 7, 1934 in Johnstown, PA he was the son of the late Edward and Freda (Lindberg) Zimmer, Sr. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Amershek) Zimmer, of Fayetteville, PA, formerly of Gettysburg, PA to whom he was married to for 62 years.
Mr. Zimmer was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War era. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg. He was a graduate of Ferndale High School in Johnstown, PA. He worked for many years as a Steamfitter for Local 438 in Baltimore, MD.
In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his two sons, Thomas Zimmer and his wife Leslie, of Westminster, MD, Arthur Zimmer and his longtime companion Dawn Hammon, of Fayetteville, PA, his three grandchildren, Gabrielle Krug, Zachary Zimmer, Gunther Zimmer, and three great grandchildren, Jack, Charles, and Sebastian Krug. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric M. Zimmer, who died in 2016.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 25 West High St., Gettysburg, PA with Fr. Joseph Carolin Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
