Obituary for Edward W. Becker
Edward W. Becker, 68, Gettysburg, PA died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the York Hospital.
He was born February 24, 1948 in Taneytown, MD the son of the late Oscar L. and
Francenia Sites Becker, Sr. Ed is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Grove Becker.
Mr. Becker was a member of the New Hope Faith Community. He was a 1967 graduate of Taneytown High School and then spent 3 years in the US Army stationed in Germany from 1968 thru 1972. Following the service he was employed with various companies involved in the plumbing, heating and construction business. For a time he was the Service Manager at Lincoln Estates on the Chambersburg Road in Gettysburg. From 1988 until 1999 he was employed at Carl Frantz Plumbing and Heating. Ed was a member of the Taneytown American Legion, a board member of the Gettysburg Region AACA, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Chambersburg. Ed loved to collect and restore classic cars.
In addition to his wife Mr. Becker is survived by three daughters; Crystal D. Moran of Taneytown, MD, Audrey L. Alwine and her husband Mark of Gettysburg, PA, Jennifer L. Hubbard and her husband Eric of Gettysburg, PA, six grandchildren; Collin Moran, Dylan Moran, Aaron Moran, Greyson Alwine, Mya Alwine, Madeline Hubbard, six brothers; Charles Ronald Schwinger of Westminster, MD, Oscar L. Becker, Jr. of New Oxford, PA, Kenneth Becker of Frederick, MD, Donald Becker of Gettysburg, PA, Michael Becker of Waynesboro, PA, Richard Becker of VA, and a sister, Margaret M. Shank of New Oxford, PA.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg with Pastor Tim Kielly officiating. Interment will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover, PA. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday, September 29th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 North Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
