Obituary for Edwin "Ed" Taylor
Edwin John "Ed" Taylor, 68, of Orrtanna, Pa, passed away on Friday, September 23rd at York Hospital, York, Pa. He was born in Mattawana, Pa to Richard M. and Ellen (McMullen) Taylor on October 18, 1947. He was the devoted husband of Cynthia (Stayrook) Taylor to whom he was married for 38 years.
Ed went to Rothrock High School, McVeytown, Pa. He served in the Army from 1967 to 1969 in active duty, and then in the reserves until 1973. He worked as a telephone lineman for 34 years and retired from Sprint in 2003. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Gettysburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors when he wasn't sleeping in front of the TV.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Tina (Taylor) Cook. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Heidi Taylor, Lancaster; brothers Willard Byers, husband of Joann (Broome) Byers, Lewistown, Kenneth Taylor, husband of Nancy (King) Taylor, Lewistown, and Barry Taylor, Mattawana; a granddaughter Shania Cook, Sinnamahoning; and 11 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Ed's life will be held at 11 am Saturday, October 1 at First Baptist Church, 1015 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, Pa. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ed's memory to First Baptist Church of Gettysburg
