Obituary for Edwin P. "Ed" Karr
Edwin P. “Ed” Karr, 85 of Gettysburg, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born January 3, 1932 in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late William S. & Helen E. (McGeeney) Karr.
Ed was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army. Following his military service, Ed graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1953 and served with the State Police for 38 years retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg, VFW Post #15 and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Ed is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia A. (Gavin) Karr, two daughters; Marcia A. Fiscel and husband Jack of Gettysburg and Patricia K. Neiderer and husband Anthony of Thomasville, PA, his son, Edwin P. Karr, Jr. and wife Joanne of Norrisville, MD, five grandchildren: Zachary Neiderer and his wife Carli, Leah Neiderer, Edwin P. Karr, III, Brock Neiderer and Gabrielle Karr and a great grandson, Owen Jackson Neiderer. Ed was predeceased by his brother William Karr, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 45 West High Street, Gettysburg with Fr. John Kuchinski, Celebrant. Burial with full military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. A viewing will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. The family suggests memorials to: Grane Hospice Care, 4 Lemoyne Drive, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
