Obituary for Elaine L. Bittinger
Elaine Louise Crouse Bittinger, 62, a lifelong resident of Gettysburg, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Gettysburg Center after a brief battle with brain cancer. She was married to the late Ronald James Bittinger to whom she was with for 20 years.
Born on November 15, 1954 at the Hanover Hospital, she was the daughter of Melvin Donald Crouse of Gettysburg and the late Helen Ann (Culver) Crouse. Elaine’s life revolved around her family. In addition to her father, she is survived by a sister, Vicki Crouse and her companion, George Gallagher of Gettysburg; a niece Monica (Madsen) Lavin and her husband Joe of Glenside, PA and their children Katie and Teddy; a nephew Matthew Weaver and his fiancée Sara Victoria of Gettysburg and their children Jacob, Blaine, Adrianna and Marcella; and her dearest friends Jeff Gebhart of York Springs, PA; Connie Fritz of Gettysburg; and Kathleen (Platt) Green of Gettysburg.
Elaine and Ron owned and operated Bittinger Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning in Gettysburg for 10 years. She enjoyed a 12 – ½ year career with the Gettysburg Railroad and most recently, an 8 year career with Travel Resorts of America. She was a 1972 graduate of Gettysburg High School and a member of St. James Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg with Rev. Michael Allwien officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Elaine may be made to Ruth’s Harvest, PO Box 4596, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
