Obituary for Emmert Lindy Miner
Emmert Lindy Miner, 89 of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Transitions Health Care in Gettysburg after a long illness.
Born in Waynesboro, PA on January 9, 1928, he was the son of the late William Paul & Myrtle (Muth) Miner.
Lindy was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren. Lindy had served as a store manager and district manager for the A&P Food Stores for many years. He was a former member and past president of the Gettysburg Optimist Club which supported youth activities in the Gettysburg area. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, reading spy novels and tending to his garden.
Lindy is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris J. (Barton) Miner, two sons; Steven Miner of Harrisburg, PA and Scott Miner of Mechanicsburg, PA, grandson, Asa Miner, granddaughter, Zoe Miner, brother Donald F. Miner of Chambersburg, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Paul Miner, Jr. and a sister, Janet Ankerbrandt.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, 1710 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg with Revs. Richard Godfrey and Pat Arendt, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. A private burial will be held at the Upper Marsh Creek Cemetery, Gettysburg.
