Obituary for Ernest D. Rebert
Ernest D. Rebert, 94 of Arendtsville, PA passed away on Sunday January 8, 2017 at his home.
Born on March 22, 1922 in McKnightstown, PA, he was the son of the late Allen & Edna (Bushman) Rebert. Mr. Rebert is survived by his wife of 72 years, Miriam (Knouse) Rebert.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. Mr. Rebert owned & operated Rebert’s TV in Arendtsville and then Gettysburg for 40 years. He was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ in Arendtsville where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School, member of the American Legion Post #262 in Biglerville, PA and a charter member of the Arendtsville Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Rebert is survived by his four children; Jane Stoner and husband Bill of Biglerville, Betty Frank and husband Dave of Gardners, PA, Jo McGlaughlin and husband Mike of Gettysburg, PA and Lynn Rebert and wife Ellen of Gettysburg, eight grandchildren; Kathy Serfass, Kelly Stoner, Michael Stoner, Steven Frank, Kelsey Rebert, Gregg Rebert, Eric McGlaughlin and Kelly Frick, seven great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers; Harold and Joseph Rebert.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Mr. Rebert’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Zion United Church of Christ, 22 Gettysburg St., Arendtsville with Rev. Dr. Kim Blocher, officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church and at a reception in the church’s social room following the service. A private burial will be held in the Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville. The family suggests memorials to the Music Department at Zion UCC, P. O. Box 538, Arendtsville, PA 17303.
