Obituary for Ethel M. Smith
Ethel M. Smith, 76, of Gettysburg, PA passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016, at the York Hospital. She was born July 6, 1940, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late George and Ethel Metcalf. Ethel is survived by her husband of 60 years, Franklin D. Smith, and her beloved dog Jo Jo. In addition to her husband, Ethel is survived by a son, Franklin D. Smith, Jr., of Gettysburg, PA, and a daughter Cynthia Wisotzkey whom is married to Dave Wisotzkey of Gettysburg, PA. Ethel has a legacy of five grandchildren; Nicole White, Ryan Smith, Ashley Cresswell, Hunter Smith, and Tyler Truan, and five great grandchildren; Destinee King, Katelyn Harrison, Trinity White, Saphira White, and Carter Cresswell. She also has four sisters; Dorothy Welsh and Mildred Gibson of Glen Burnie, MD, Mary Stollings of Chapmanville, W. VA, and Debbie Batang of Baltimore, MD. Ethel was a member of the Gettysburg Eagles, Gettysburg VFW and the Gettysburg American Legion. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Monahan’s Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA, will receive family and friends on Saturday, September 10, 2016, starting at 2:00 PM, and a Memorial Service will be held during that time.
