Obituary for Evelyn (Peck) Emmons Smith
Evelyn Smith, 86, of Fairfield, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2018 at Village of Laurel Run in Fayetteville, PA.
Born Dec 28, 1931 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Thorton) Emmons. She married her late husband Luther A. Smith on August 9, 1986 at St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg.
Evelyn was a homemaker and later secretary at the Chambersburg Middle School. Her husband Luther Smith formerly was business manager for the Mason Dixon Dairy in Gettysburg. She played the piano at St. James and she and Luther were leaders in the 4-H Club in Gettysburg. She graduated from Scotland School for Veteran’s Children in 1950.
Evelyn is survived by her sister Mary Schiffman of Falmouth, MA, her children from her first marriage, Cindy Peck of South Mountain, Marji Peck of Haddonfield, NJ, and William Peck and wife Donna, and grandchildren Bethany, Michelle, and Stephen Peck. She was preceded in death by daughter Sandy Peck.
She is also survived by her step-children Jamie and husband Gary Shaffer, Carole Smith, Gary Smith and wife Kathy, Randy Smith and wife Phyllis, Kirby Smith and wife Vicki, Brad Smith and wife Cyndi, Eric Smith and wife Colleen, Brent Smith and wife Karen, Judy Wilson and husband Steve, Kirk Smith and wife Amy, Perry Smith and wife Joanne, Sheldon Smith and wife Nancy, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Andrew Geib officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.
