Obituary for Faye G. Slusser
Faye G. Slusser, 88 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, September 12, at her home. Born December 14, 1929 in Mt. Hope, she was the daughter of the late John and Daisy Currens Sites. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Kermit Slusser.
Faye attended business school and then worked for the Fairfield Area School District as Secretary to the Superintendent, Secretary to the School Board, and later in the business office until her retirement.
She was a lifelong member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist and organist for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid. Playing piano was her hobby and passion.
Most of all she enjoyed keeping up to date on the lives of her family, including her grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Faye had broad knowledge of Fairfield and family history and so many interesting stories to tell.
She will be missed very much by her daughter and son-in-law Valerie and Dr. Tom Gemmill of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, granddaughter and husband Dr. Erin and Michael Panzarella of Lambertville, New Jersey, grandson Wesley Gemmill and friend Brittni Ehrhart of Denver, Colorado and two great granddaughters, Siena Panzarella and Louisa Panzarella of Lambertville, New Jersey. Also surviving are sisters Lorraine Wilt and husband Carroll of Gettysburg, Nina Herring and husband Fred of Gettysburg, and brother Bill Sites and wife Joan of Ellicott City, Maryland. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law Paulette Kelly and Faye Bowermaster of Carlisle. She will also be missed by her caregiver Linda Startzman of Fairfield.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Orrtanna United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Aker officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
