
Obituary for Fred C. Hopper
Fred C. Hopper, 97 of York Springs, PA passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA.
Born in Altoona, AL on March 7, 1921, he was the son of the late Paddy Hugh & Jessie (Wright) Hopper, Mr. Hopper is survived by his wife of 75 years, Cecelia (Mutchie) Hopper.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford. Mr. Hopper was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy. He was a farmer in the York Springs area for many years. Mr. Hopper will be remembered as a faithful husband and father.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children; Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Malone of Coatesville, PA, Rita Hopper of Largo, FL, Theresa Hopper and her husband Stan Clapp of Corbin, KY, Louise McCausland and husband Steven of Canon City, CO, Monica L. Lefler of Salisbury, NC, Dan Hopper and his wife Patricia Atkinson of Fort Collins, CO and Joann Riley and husband Terry of York Springs, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, and a brother, Hugh Hopper of Altoona, AL. He was predeceased by a grandson, Todd Michael Boyette, three brothers; Ross, Dickie and Frank and two sisters; Evelyn and Edith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Carlisle St., New Oxford, PA with Fr. Michael Letteer, Celebant. Following the Mass, interment with full military honors provided by the Adams County Allied Veterans will take place at the Sunnyside Cemetery in York Springs.
