Obituary for Gerard M. Herring
Gerard M. Herring, age 61, of Gettysburg, PA passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 after an extended illness.
He was born in Erie, PA, on October 5, 1955, the son of the late Grace Kaiser and Howard Herring. He spent most of his life in Melbourne, FL having moved there at the age of 13.
Gerard was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. In Gettysburg, PA he was a member of the American Legion 202, Eagles 1562, and AmVets 172.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Herring, and Margaret Peterson and brothers James and Paul Herring.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years Brenda Herring, three children, a special son, David and son Jordan and daughter, Kaitlyn. Two step daughters Jessica (Randy) White, son Matthew of Halifax PA, daughter, Marene (Joseph) Williston of Cumberland MD. brothers, Howard (Judy), David, both of FL, William (Patty), Larry, both of Erie, PA and sisters Karen Adams of FL, Kathleen Bielak of Erie, PA and Ruth Ann (Leo) Zaborowski of North East, PA. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. One special nephew Devin Herring who was devoted to his uncle and was his good friend.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, Pa, with full military honors presented by the Adams County Allied Veterans following the services.
