Obituary for Gertrude "Trudy" Walter
Gertrude “Trudy” Susan Miller Walter, 85, passed peacefully into God’s eternal care on February 29, 2016 at The Village of Laurel Run.
Trudy was born September 11, 1930 in Windber, PA to parents, Susan and Joseph Miller. She graduated from Biglerville High School in 1949, and later went on to work as a Teacher Aide at Franklin Township Elementary School in Cashtown, PA for 26 years. Trudy honed her crafting skills in the classroom, and joyfully shared them with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, creating still-life paintings, and completing daily crossword puzzles. Trudy was an avid antique hunter and treasured her diverse collection of period furniture and fixtures.
Trudy was a member of the Gettysburg Baptist Church in Gettysburg, PA. She is survived by her son, Rodger K. Walter and his wife Candice of Fairfield, and her daughter, Deborah Warwick and her husband Dennis of Richfield, MN. She is also survived by grandchildren, Nikki, Rebecca, Jeni, Laurel, Jim, Laine, Amy, and Wally. She is survived by two sisters, Helen Litwin and Ethel Snyder, both of NY. She is predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Miller and Steve Miller, and five sisters, Mary Frank, Elsie Cochran, Emma Houchens, Roseanne Ingram, and Irma Gasho Parker. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg PA on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends from1:00 PM until the time of the service. Reverend William Mummert of Gettysburg Baptist Church will officiate. Private interment will be at the Greenmount Cemetery in Arendtsville, PA.
