Obituary for Glenn A. Powell
Glenn A. Powell, 96 of Orrtanna, PA died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Gettysburg after a long illness.

Born in Cashtown, PA on September 23, 1920, he was the son of the late Frederick H. & Ellie (McDannell) Powell.

Glenn was a lifelong resident of Franklin Township, Adams County. He and his late brother Clifford worked on highway construction jobs and were involved in the in the right-of-way construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike through Dauphin, Cumberland, York and Lancaster Counties. They operated the wagon drills which drilled holes into the rock before the blasting could take place to clear the path for the new highway. He enjoyed working on the small family farm, gardening and tending to the small pear orchard.

Glenn is survived by a loving niece, Doris Powell Youngblood and her son’s; Matthew L. and Cy Ray Youngblood. He was predeceased by two sisters; Josephine Pike and Berdetta Speelman and three brothers; Clifford Powell, Bernard Powell and Clarence Deardorff and a beloved nephew, Roy L. Powell. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
