Obituary for Glenn Robert Weiland
Glenn Robert “Bob” Weiland, 84, 90 Confederate Drive, Gettysburg, PA died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Gettysburg Hospital.
He was born June 25, 1931 in Washington, D.C. the son of the late Dr. Glenn and Gladys Snyder Weiland. Bob’s first wife Nancy Baker Weiland died in 1996. He is survived by his second wife, Betty Jacobs Weiland.
Mr. Weiland was a member of the First Lutheran Church in New Oxford, PA. He was a 1949 graduate of Gettysburg High School and a graduate of Gettysburg College where he served in the ROTC. Bob served in the US Army earning a rank of Lieutenant. For over 30 years he owned and operated Baker’s Electronics Services on Baltimore Street in Gettysburg. Bob was an active member of the Jaycee’s on both a local and state level. He was a former member of the Adams County Chamber of Commerce where he was awarded the “Outstanding Citizen” award. Mr. Weiland was a former member of GARMA. He was an active stamp collector and was a member and Treasurer of the Blue and Gray Stamp Club. Bob enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, bird watching and was an amateur photographer.
In addition to his wife Bob is survived by three sons; Stephen R. Weiland of Harrisburg, PA, Gary A. Weiland and his wife Audrey of Gettysburg, PA, Frederick B. Weiland and his wife Michelle of Odenton, MD, four grandsons, Dustin Weikel and his wife Hannah, Jacob Weiland and his wife PK, Brian Weiland, and Michael Weiland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA with Rev. Beth George officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
