Obituary for Guy L. Crist
Guy L. Crist, 85, Gettysburg, PA died Friday, June 1, 2018 at SpiriTrust in Gettysburg, PA.
He was born February 8, 1933 in Gettysburg, PA the son of the late LeRoy and Elizabeth Gastley Crist. His wife of 66 years, Ruth Hartzell Crist died in November of 2017.
Guy was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. For over 40 years he was a Production Supervisor at Musselman’s and later Knouse Foods until his retirement. Guy was an active athletic coach, organizer and player. He coached and oversaw both the Optimist Baseball and Basketball leagues. He coached and played for the St. James Softball team in the Gettysburg Community League. He coached and played for the Charlie’s Texas Lunch Championship Teams in the community basketball league. He was an avid New York Yankee’s fan. In his later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s athletic events and walking in his neighborhood talking to his neighbors along the way.
Mr. Crist is survived by five children; Lois Holland and her husband Vance of Oviedo, FL, Kay Price and her husband John of East Berlin, PA, Jean Blaine and her husband Connor of Erie, PA, Ross Crist and his wife Susan of East Berlin, PA, Beth Becker and her husband Brad of Littlestown, PA, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 from St. James Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael Allwein and Rev. Andrew Geib officiating. Entombment will be in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, June 16th from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
