Obituary for Harry E. Slonaker
Harry E. Slonaker, 96, of Gettysburg, PA died Thursday morning, October 4, 2018 at Transitions Healthcare, Gettysburg.
Born March 27, 1922 near Fairfield, PA he was the son of the late Andrew and Ruth (Sprenkle) Slonaker. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Kepner) Slonaker who died July 16, 2001.
Mr. Slonaker grew up on a farm and earned his living as a plumber before his retirement. He was an avid bowler, horseshoe thrower, and beloved neighbor. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings and their families. He toured the United States by car with his wife and son, Robert, visiting scenic attractions in 49 states. Favorite spot for Harry and Dorothy was Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.
Harry is survived by his son, Robert Slonaker, of Gettysburg, and his two sisters, Janet Brenner and Helen Stahley. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ira Slonaker, Allen Slonaker, and his sister, Esther Miller.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 East Main St., Fairfield, PA. Burial will be in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
