
Obituary for Helen P. Weaver
Helen P. Weaver, 97, 1075 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at her home.
She was born December 26, 1918 in Harrisburg, PA the daughter of the late Nathan Patterson and Laura Haertter. Helen’s husband Claire Weaver died in 1989.
Mrs. Weaver was an active member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of John Harris High School in Harrisburg and later earned her nursing degree from Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital. In her early years Helen’s career began as an Army nurse. Later as she and her family move around the world following her husband’s career in the Army she worked as a nurse in most locations. After retirement and settling in Gettysburg, Helen became the nurse for Gettysburg College.
Helen enjoyed many activities including bowling, bridge, YWCA, Senior Acts, and AARP. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Both she and her husband served as volunteers for Hospice and Meals-on-Wheels.
Mrs. Weaver is survived by a son, Robert Weaver and his wife Heide of Bethesda, MD, a daughter, Kathryn Moore of Delray, FL, a granddaughter, Zoe Ohler, husband Gene, a great granddaughter, Julianna Ohler, three sisters; Betty Hannum of Camp Hill, PA, Flora Dare of Mechanicsburg and Henrietta Crider-Mellinger of Mechanicsburg
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church, Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA with her pastor Rev. Dr. David Wright and Rev. Louis Nyiri officiating. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. There will be an Eastern Star Service at the church on Thursday at 10:45 AM.
