Obituary for Irene D. (Clingan) Brent
Irene “Renie” Delta (Clingan) Brent, 86, of Gettysburg, PA entered God’s eternal care Saturday afternoon, May 4, 2019 at her home in Gettysburg.
Born September 28, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Walter and Delta (Ridinger) Clingan and step-mother Ruth (Ridinger) Clingan. She was the loving wife of the late Cassius Brent who preceded her in death February 9, 2008.
Irene was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Harney, MD. She worked for 30 years as a nursing assistant at the Lutheran Home in Gettysburg (now SpiriTrust.) She also worked for several years as a furniture detailer. Her most important roles in her life were that of loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed and cherished her family, neighbors, and friends. She had a passion for playing bingo and being with her bingo pals. She leaves a legacy of loves for all whom she encountered in life.
Irene is survived by her four children, Cassius Timothy Brent (Alana Brent Alden), of Dillsburg, PA, Patricia Irene Arendt (Michael), of Gettysburg, PA, Linda Ann Ditzler (Jack), of Hanover, PA, Randy Lee Brent, Sr. (Pam Staub), of Gettysburg, PA, grandchildren, David Arendt (Brenda), Barry Arendt (Jennifer), Laura Arendt (John Ribeiro), Roy Ditzler (Heather), Jamie Ditzler (Amanda), Randy Brent, Jr., Jessica Barret, Cody Brent, Daniel Smith (Amy), great grandchildren, Audrey Arendt, Nicholas Ditzler, Hailey Ditzler, Brandon Ditzler, Ariana Ditzler, Mason Ditzler, Jasmine Brent, Tyler Brent, Noah Brent, Ivy Barret, Chase Barret, Daniel Smith, Kayla Smith, Ali Smith, step grandchildren, Rachel Startt, Ben Stonesifer, Adam Stonesifer, Michael Martin, Kyle Martin, Alyssa Wiley, Robert Herman, step great grandchildren, Gretchen, Parker, Ava, Alana, Daniel, Leila, Liam, Ariana, Owen, and her sister, Judy (Clingan) Hayes. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, George Clingan and Ricky Clingan.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 5918 Conover Rd., Harney, MD with Rev. Peter Naschke officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Harney, MD. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday evening, May 8, 2019 at the Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, PA, as well as an hour before the service Thursday morning at the church.
