Obituary for Irene G. Starner
Irene G. Starner, 103, Orrtanna, PA was called home by the Lord on Saturday, July 28, 2018.
Mrs. Starner was born November 6, 1914 in Cashtown, PA the daughter of the late Clarence James and Beulah Biesecker Gallagher. Her husband Fred S. Starner died in 1988.
Mrs. Starner was a member of Flohrs Lutheran Church, Cashtown, PA. For many years she was employed at Musselman’s in Biglerville, PA and later at Knouse Foods in Orrtanna, PA. She also helped her husband on the family farm. Irene also volunteered at Piney Mountain Home in Fayetteville for 25 years. She was a member of the Cashtown Fire Company Auxiliary and the Cashtown Senior Citzens. For several year, Irene was the matriarch of 5 generation of women in her family.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Lucinda L. Brickey of Orrtanna, PA, three grandchildren; Monica Kuykendall, Ann Black and her husband Rick, Robert Kuykendall and J.R. Winston and his partner Bev Redding, eight great grandchildren, and twenty great great grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Monica Kuykendall, Robert Kuykendall, Rick Black, Ronald Kuykendall, Jonathan Kuykendall, Jimmy Gallagher, Brandon Black, and J.R. Winston, the honorary pallbearers will be Kristina Rodriguez, Samantha Black, Guage Wetzel, Aiden Black, Jayden Black, Heidi Dictmar and Ailynn Dictmar.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Flohrs Lutheran Church, Cashtown, PA with Rev. Dennis Probst officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. There will be a viewing at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Flohrs Lutheran Church, 595 Flohrs Church Road, McKnightstown, PA 17343.
