Obituary for Israel R. "Bill" Nieves
Israel R. “Bill” Nieves, age 65, of Gettysburg, PA died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Meadows in Gettysburg. Born May 15, 1952 in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Carmen Rosado Nieves of Springfield, MA and the late Manuel “Shorty” Nieves, Sr. Bill was a hard working man who worked on local fruit farms for 25 years. He had been employed by Garrettson’s Orchards for 5 years, Mountain View Fruit Farms for 15 years and before his retirement had worked at Rice Fruit Farms. Bill enjoyed working on cars and fishing. In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie Ann (Good) Nieves, 4 brothers; Angel Nieves of Boiling Springs, PA, Jose Nieves of Carlisle, PA, George Nieves of York, PA and Manuel Nieves, Jr. of Springfield, MA, 3 sisters; Yolanda Feliciano of Harrisburg, Sofia Ortiz of Florida and Margarita Nieves of Springfield, MA, 5 daughters and 3 sons. A graveside funeral service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Biglerville Cemetery. There will not be a public viewing.
