Obituary for James Gordon Adair
James Gordon Adair, 69 of Gettysburg, PA passed away at his home on Saturday, May 21, 2016.
Jim was born in Gettysburg on August 15, 1946. He was the son of the late Gordon Lee & Viola Emma (Hess) Adair.
Jim graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1964, and from Gettysburg College in 1968 with a degree in History. He served two years in the Peace Corps teaching English in Ethiopia. Jim had been employed by the Conewago Valley School District for twenty two years serving as their maintenance engineer before his retirement. He had been involved for many years with the Hanover Community Players, and Gettysburg Leon. Jim loved to travel, was an avid gardener and was a skilled stain glass artisan.
Survivors include his friend of thirty eight years, James R. Berwager, sister, Mary L. Redding and husband J. Riley of Gettysburg, two brothers; Michael Adair and wife Kristel of Reading, PA and Thomas Adair and wife Jennifer of Gettysburg and six nieces and nephews.
A graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Evergreen Cemetery, 799 Baltimore St., Gettysburg with Fr. Daniel Richard, officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 a.m. at Hoss’s Restaurant, 1140 York Rd., Gettysburg. The family suggests memorials to the Adams County Rescue Mission, 2515 York Rd. Gettysburg, PA, 17325.
