
Obituary for James J. Laughlin
James J. Laughlin, 72, of Gettysburg, PA died suddenly, Sunday evening, June 19, 2016 at his home.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 8, 1943, he was the son of the late James & Catherine C. (Meehan) Laughlin.
James was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving on the USS Corporal submarine during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. James had been employed by the U.S. Census Bureau for many years. He was an outstanding high school athlete excelling in football and track. James enjoyed watching football and golf and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
James is survived by his wife of 28 years, Anne M. (Steinour) Laughlin, four children; Amy French and husband Mark of Nashville, TN, Sean Laughlin and wife Justine of Washington, DC, Kathryn Parker and husband Ben of Lititz, PA and Andrew Laughlin of Gettysburg, five grandchildren, three sisters; Kathy Barton and husband Robert of Jamestown, PA, Mary Trimbur and husband Dick of Espyville, PA and Claire Dolinar and husband Rick of Pittsburgh, PA and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Laughlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 25 West High St., Gettysburg, PA. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass, Saturday at the church.
